My Story

I’m Chris Howell, Founder and Senior Facilitator of Valor 91 Training & Consulting. As a retired U.S. Army veteran with over 20 years of leadership experience, I started Valor 91 to serve those who serve helping veterans, military spouses, dependents, and military-focused nonprofits unlock their potential and confidently move forward in life and work.

During my time in uniform from medic to Company Commander I deployed to Iraq, Bosnia, and Kuwait, and earned a Bronze Star for my leadership. But it was after I transitioned out of the Army that I had a realization that changed everything:

Too many people especially in the military community don’t know what they’re truly meant to do.

They’ve been told what job to take or what’s “practical,” but no one ever stopped to ask:
What do you love? What drives you? What’s your purpose?

That’s when I recognized the need for self-discovery. Purpose isn’t just a nice-to-have it’s the foundation of a meaningful life and career. Valor 91 was built to help people find that purpose, then give them the tools to live it out with confidence and direction.

I’ve been married for over 25 years and am a proud father of three. Every Thursday, I volunteer to help veterans with resumes, interviews, and career coaching. I also serve as Committee Chair for Military R.I.S.E., where I lead a six-week transition program for active-duty service members preparing for civilian life.
